Genuinely, this might be the worst game in the entire mainline Resident Evil series. It’s not buggy, and the story isn’t particularly bad or anything; it’s just terrible to play past the first story. There are way too many little things that the devs overlooked that just sorta ruin the entire experience the more you play the game. You’ll overlook them at first, but eventually they will become so glaring that the game becomes frustrating and not worth finishing.

Positives, Leon and Helena have a good story and compared to the others is the most RE like. You fight zombies and the occasional mutant blob thing, but of course, hilarity will ensue, and Leon will eventually be jumping between helicopters. It's very over the top in a good way and a solid and fun 6-hour first campaign. In general, having multiple perspectives on the same narrative is nice, as the whole RE gang is pretty much in this game, and it was fun to learn what each character did/does throughout the plot. Lastly, the cutscenes and environments are very well done for a PS3 game, and considering how many there are of these, I would say the animators and artists did a great job.

Negatives, there are so many. In the first playthrough as Leon or Helena, the negatives won’t be as obvious, as this campaign is just a solid zombie shooter. However, the issues become way more apparent once the game goes full CoD and the J’avo become the main enemy. First off, there are lots of scripted chase/fight scenes that need to be completed perfectly with no room for error. If you fail, you need to do it again, which is generally fine, but not in this game. This is compounded by the fact that this game has no concept of invincibility frames, so even when you're not controlling your character and something scripted is happening, something can just kill them from halfway across the level. This is extra apparent when you get knocked down; whenever you lose 1 life block, your character will get knocked down, and you then need to get up and run away. However, during this animation, your character is not invincible, meaning whatever was strong enough to obliterate your health bar in the first place will still be doing it. Basically, get knocked down and you're fucked, and that’s particularly annoying given how often enemies will just jump around a corner and unload full clips into you. There is even a bug enemy in this game that will swarm you and take 1 health block per second unless you can do a QTE. However, because this triggers the dying state and the flies don’t stop swarming, just having a hair touch this enemy means an instant game over. There are many other small things, like the fact that this is a 3rd person shooter with a time to kill upwards of 5-30 seconds per enemy when you need to fight hordes of 10-20 in a single cramped room. Chris and Jake's stories are particularly bad for this, especially once you realize all the enemies can insta-kill you, and they expect you to have full ammo for every encounter because they wanna be CoD so badly.

TLDR:

Fuck this game don’t play it.
